Mission
The Theo fund is a long term project to raise £50,000 for charities that support children and the parents of children with serious and life threatening conditions. It is inspired by and named after Theo, a patient of Great Ormond Street and Evelina Children's hospitals and beneficiary of four of the supported charities. Make a Wish is also supported in recognition of other, tougher journeys that many children and their parents face, that Theo and his family encountered during his own treatments. Theo's Story...
Now happy, healthy and full of life, Theo was born with several complex heart defects that required a series of operations within his first few years and a secondary procedure to alleviate a brain haemorrhage he suffered during the first heart operation. Theo had a tough time but remained spirited throughout and has grown into an appreciative and thoughtful young man. He has not let being on the cover of ECHO's "Eddie Echo" book go to his head and still talks to his parents :-) Theo also met many other children, some on much tougher journeys than his. Theo's and his family's long term goal with the Theo Fund is to contribute to the support organisations that help all those affected with similar scenarios so they can continue their great work. Since 2010 Theo, his family and their friends and work colleagues have all played a part in getting the project going - big brother Jack's walked 100 miles over 4 days, mum Elissa took the plunge on her first ever cross country running race and there's been huge involvement and support from many others. We thank you for your continued support - Theo, his parents Lee and Elissa and his brother Jack. |
